Just a perfect night with the perfect man. Couldn't have asked for anything better. I will remember this night forever. The night I said "yes!"

Groom

I drove my girlfriend out to the Nicollet Island Inn in Minneapolis, MN for not only her birthday, but also our anniversary. The date was 12-12-12 and I decided that this would be the perfect date and her birthday would provide the perfect cover so she wouldn't suspect a thing. After we arrived at the inn, I had her wait in the car because I didn't see her "birthday" surprise yet. After a phone call and a horse drawn carriage on the way, I had her get out of the car and told her to get ready. Her back was turned away from the hill and she was facing me when the carriage was heading down the hill behind her. I had her turn around and her eyes glowed and she said "That's not for us is it?!" So I told her "No, I bought you a new car." She started to cry and we walked up to get on. I sat next to her and covered us with a blanket and put her present on the other side of the carriage and told her not to touch. Half way through our tour through the city lights, we made it to the Stone Arch Bridge and in the middle of the bridge I asked the driver to stop. My girlfriend said "Oh, are we gonna take pictures!?". Playing along I said "Yes" So we took a few pictures and before she started to get back on the ride I told her we weren't done yet. I grabbed the present out of the bag which happened to be a snow bear holding a little box wrapped up like a present and a bow on top. I took her under a lamp post on the bridge and handed her the present. She started to cry once more. I'm pretty sure at this point she knew what was next to come. I opened the box and pulled out the ring box inside and told her to open it. She did just that only to find nothing inside. I then grabbed her hand and said "Hunny, you know how you always say you're a bad girlfriend?" She said "Yes?" Then I told her "Well maybe you'd make a better fiance" I got down on one knee and using her full name I asked "Will you marry me?" She said "Yes!" I then proceeded to put the ring on her hand, and being so nervous I put it on the wrong one! She said "Honey wrong hand!" and laughed. We then hugged and kissed and headed back over to hop on the carriage. The driver congratulated us and we finished out the rest of our ride as a newly engaged couple.
